This house is located just south of Union KY at 10515 US 42. The Martha Lassing House, named after the owner listed in the 1883 atlas of Boone, Kenton, and Campbell Counties. The house was build as a dogtrot style double pen cabin in about 1830. The House became known as Elm Tree Place, because of the large Elm Tree that stood in the front yard. The Elm tree die of over 50 years ago, but the house continued to be referred to as Elm The Place. The house and 120 acres were sold after Therese Lassing, the granddaughter of Martha Lassing die when her skirt caught fire at the fireplace. My descendants the Bakers, then purchased the estate in about 1915.
Extensive remodeling in 1946 added central heat a kitchen, dinning room, bathrooms and basement. The back part of the original house was removed at that time.
